Sabrina Craig is the co-director of Vaccine Hunters Canada, an organization in pursuit of connecting Canadians across the country with information and access to available vaccine appointments. Working as a technical analyst at BMO full time, Sabrina made it a goal of hers to spend more time volunteering in 2021. With the pandemic still ever present, a sense of urgency surrounded getting Sabrina’s parents — who are both immunocompromised — and herself vaccinated, but access to appointments, information, and answers proved difficult.
When Sabrina discovered Vaccine Hunters Canada on Twitter, she began sending the account DM’s with useful information that she gathered from pharmacy websites. By April of 2021, Sabrina was fully involved with the organization, and became co-director of Vaccine Hunters Canada while sorting through the overwhelming amount of tips the community was receiving. She joined at an opportune time, because the volunteer-run organization grew at an incredibly rapid pace; over 100 volunteers across Canada were sourcing appointments, sharing the availability of doses, and answering questions people had about the vaccine. The Vaccine Hunters Canada community of volunteers and social media followers — which at its peak, was almost 430,000 in total across their platforms — has helped hundreds of thousands of Canadians get educated, and most importantly, receive their vaccinations.
