Lovepreet Deo is a cyclist and Canadian athlete with cerebral palsy that shares her love for exercise to inspire others with different abilities. Born in Canada with cerebral palsy, doctors told Lovepreet’s parents she would never walk — but she defied odds when she took her first steps. Today, she bikes, swims, and uses a walker, walking as many as 10,000 steps a day. When she was 12 years old, she was given her first tricycle — and her love for cycling grew from there. When he was in her 30s, Lovepreet started training at the gym, cycled thousands of kilometres, and eventually, she began participating in multiple race events.
After Lovepreet rode her first 20 km Cerebral Palsy Association Life Without Limits Challenge in 2015, she was inspired to keep going. Alongside her trainer, Dawn, she has participated in several races, including her first half-marathon distance on a bike in a 21.1 km race. In June 2021, Lovepreet accomplished another milestone, climbing the 167 steps of Calgary, Alberta’s McHugh Bluff for her 40th birthday, and in 2022, Lovepreet accomplished her goal of cycling 2,000 km for the year. Continuing to stretch her physical abilities and working with inclusive active wear brands and talent agencies, Lovepreet continues to challenge stigmas and give hope to others.
