Meet Natacha Rey, Founder, Formulator, and President of Maison Apothecare
She develops eco-friendly, health-conscious products inspired by her off the grid upbringing.
Natacha Rey is the founder, formulator, and president of Maison Apothecare, a company that sells all natural skincare, body care, healing remedies, and non-toxic home cleaning products carefully curated and crafted in Ontario, Canada. Growing up on a farm in Ontario’s countryside with her parents, Natacha loved creating using ingredients sourced from nature. Interestingly enough, she was also immersed in a world of financial literacy and developing an entrepreneurial mindset through spending time with her grandparents. After she became a mother, Natacha began to mix natural ingredients to create remedies for her loved ones, and this phase of experimentation — in tandem with the business mindset she developed — evolved, and she went on to create Maison Apothecare in 2012. Since starting her business, Natacha has developed over 100 products, including Sleepy Owl Baby Care, Maison Apothecare Skincare, and Lemon Aide Cleaning. To learn more about Natacha, keep reading.
My first job ever was… working as a stable hand. I grew up in the country close to horse farms, so my very first job was shovelling horse poop.
Before Maison Apothecare & Lemon Aide, I was… a homeopathic practitioner in Australia.
I’m passionate about what I do because… my vision is to improve the world’s health.
I started my business because… I wanted to create healthy formulas that families could bring into their homes.
My proudest accomplishment is… my two children and a decade of business success, having endured some big challenges — both as a mom and business owner.
My biggest setback was… bringing investors in and buying them out.
I overcame it by… digging deep into my strength, fortitude, and purpose.
My best advice for anyone that cares about a cause and would like to become involved is… commit to beginning with a small act in the right direction and it will snowball, but just begin.
The one piece of advice I give that I have trouble following myself is… putting yourself first; it all begins with you. Everything that you do begins with you.
If I were to pick one thing that has helped me succeed, it would be… the skill and attitude of picking oneself up and continuing onward and upward, and the self-knowing of strong inner strength.
If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… all of my failures and insecurities.
I stay inspired by… thinking of my children and the future of the planet.
The future excites me because… although there is much doom and gloom floating around, I am an eternal optimist and believe that good, kind, thoughtful acts by the majority will make all the difference for our future and our kids’ future.
My next step is… continuing to expand myself and my company beyond what I ever thought was possible.
